This is an apartment designed for two students, with the potential to be easily converted into a family apartment in the future. To that end, the interior is arranged in a modern combined style of Scandinavian and industrial elements, creating an excellent balance that radiates avant-garde appeal. The soft white tones, which were a desire of the client, make the space refined and sophisticated, while the industrial elements give character to the space, reminiscent of contemporary apartments in New York.
Spatial Composition
Characteristic of this apartment is its position within the building, at the corner of its L-shaped layout. This offers a beautiful open view and good lighting, but the shape of the apartment is trapezoidal—having one slanted side. It was important for us to make the best use of the space without having any "dead" corners that are difficult to clean and are underutilized.
Upon entering the apartment, you first come into the hallway, which leads to the living room and dining area. The kitchen is small but rationally designed with all necessary functions. The bedroom opens onto a balcony that we transformed into a small green "oasis" ideal for rest and relaxation.
Forms, Materials, and Textures
The industrial design was the right step when designing for two young individuals, as it conveys a sense of urban and cool aesthetics. The olive color, bronze details, and wooden textures create a perfect combination for achieving such an ambiance.
We used MDF board in a beige color and a simpler wood texture to emphasize the olive color. The columns are clad in vertical wooden slats that visually elevate the space.
The slanted wall in the bathroom is utilized for a more comfortable shower cabin, while in the bedroom, we placed the two beds and the wardrobe on that wall. This way, a nice workspace is provided, which is essential for the students.
The bathroom is designed with gentle marble tones combined with bronze and wood, and wall techniques have been added to the wall near the mirror in the entrance hall and on the wall with the TV in the bedroom, both done in a terracotta technique.
The interior features rounded forms in the dining table, chandeliers, and the mirror in the entrance hall, although predominantly, the forms are straight.
